An pool hall in London
I traveled alone to London about 15 years ago. At that time, I often played in the second floor of the amusement arcade.
It was placed the game machine in the first floor, and the second floor was a pool hall. I often went the second floor because I rarely played by the game machine.
There were a lot of young people like international students, and I was able to enjoy playing billiards with them.
A night, I came to want to take a rest in the shop because I had been walking for a long time in London. At that time, there was a pool hall in the presence. I boldly entered the shop though I felt a little scary.
I was called by a man, and we played billiards together. He was putting tattoo of his body in some places. I felt him a little scary. However, I began to question him variously, because I kept drinking and my fear was weakened.
I was able to enjoy our conversation because there is an African lady who was going together with him. She successfully translated our conversation.
For instance, I said him “You from?” and she at once translated into "Where do you come from?"
He was from Russia, and she was from Africa. I was able to spend a wonderful night thanks to her translation power.
I think I was taught to her that the 'power to guess’ was very important when we talked with the foreigner.
